    Melissa Clary

    Director ‘24-’26
Bio: I grew up on a farm and ranch in South Texas as a 5th generation “farm kid.” From a young age I learned the value of hard work under the hot summer sun. I developed an appreciation for native rangelands even before I understood the big picture of land stewardship. While pursuing my bachelor’s degree at Angelo State, this spark of passion grew into a fire to pursue a career in rangeland management. I graduated in 2009 with a degree in Animal Science and emphasis on Range and Wildlife Management. I began my career with NRCS as a Range Management Specialist in 2010. NRCS has taken me to diverse eco-regions across the state including the Edwards Plateau, Coastal Bend, High Plains, and Southern Rolling Plains (my favorite at the moment). I am currently a Rangeland Management Specialist in Snyder, TX.

I have been involved with the Texas Section for several years. Beyond the Board of Directors, I am a member of the Grassroots Committee, Social Media, and have been involved in past Annual Meeting Planning Committees. I am currently the Photo Contest Chair and Annual Meeting Planning Committee Co-Chair for 2026 and help the Texas Section behind the scenes with various “other duties as assigned.” In 2024, I had the honor of being awarded Outstanding Young Range Professional at the Victoria Annual Meeting.

Outside of work and TSSRM, you can find me chasing my 2 daughters and newborn son with my husband Matthew, or making sure our cows have plenty of quality native grass to graze on between our two family properties. I enjoy most things in the great outdoors- running, hiking, hunting, and horseback riding to name a few…but you can also find me chasing birds (or whatever other critter I can find) from behind a camera lens. I’m not sure a day goes by where I’m not thinking about or living and breathing rangeland management in some capacity, whether it’s professional or personal. It’s one of those things that when you’re truly passionate about it, you just can’t turn it off. It becomes a big part of who you are…and I hope it’s something I can continue to steward for myself, as well as pass that legacy to my children and future generations.
